CEC 2025 Media Awards – Submission Criteria

CEC Plc is pleased to announce the call for entries for the inaugural CEC 2025 Media Awards, designed to honour outstanding journalism that highlights CEC’s role in the electricity sub-sector and its growth narrative.

Objectives of the Awards

The awards aim to enhance reporting on CEC’s contributions to advancements in the energy sector, policy reforms, and its impact on Zambia and regional energy goals, thereby increasing public awareness and understanding of these issues.

Additionally, the awards seek to encourage responsible, in-depth journalism and foster discussions on sustainable energy and development in Zambia.

Entry Eligibility

  • All entries must be from reputable media houses and published between January and October 2025.
  • Knowledge about CEC: The entry should demonstrate awareness about CEC’s growth agenda, developments and contribution to Zambia’s growth agenda.
  • Relevance: The entry should focus on CEC’s significant contributions to the sector by ensuring that the media content is meaningful, useful, and engaging to the specific audience it seeks to inform or influence.
  • Policy reform dimension: The entry should reference ongoing policy reforms in the power sector in Zambia and the Southern African region and how CEC is leveraging such reforms to contribute to Zambia’s energy goals.

Award Categories

  1. Best Print Coverage – The entry must cover CEC’s contribution to the energy sector, capital markets and/or its impact on local communities through its Corporate Social Investments, covering health, education, sport and environmental sustainability.
  2. Best Television Coverage – The entry must cover CEC’s contribution to the energy sector, capital markets and/or its impact on local communities through its Corporate Social Investments, covering health, education, sport and environmental sustainability.
  3. Best Radio Coverage – The entry must cover CEC’s contribution to the energy sector, capital markets and/or its impact on local communities through its Corporate Social Investments, covering health, education, sport and environmental sustainability.
  4. Best Online Coverage – The entry must cover CEC’s contribution to the energy sector, capital markets and/or its impact on local communities through its Corporate Social Investments, covering health, education, sport and environmental sustainability.
  5. Best Financial Results Coverage (Print and Radio) – The entry must clearly interpret CEC’s financials and provide insights that matter to businesses, investors, policymakers, and the public.
  6. Most Consistent Media House – The entry must demonstrate consistency in the coverage of CEC, ensuring editorial integrity and professionalism.

Submission Guidelines

  • Clearly state your name, category you are entering and specify the category of your media house (Print, Television, Radio or Online). Entries which will not be clearly labelled will be rejected.
  • A short bio of the journalist/person submitting.
  • A summary of the award (150–300 words) of the entry and its relevance.
  • A copy or link to the published/broadcast piece.
  • Audio and video attachments not exceeding 20MB in size.
