The CEC Group is pleased to announce that entries for the 2026 CEC Media Awards will open on 1 October 2026.

The awards are aimed at enhancing reporting on the electricity sub-sector in Zambia.

The awards seek to encourage innovative, responsible and in-depth journalism regarding milestones achieved in the electricity sub-sector, and the country’s efforts to foster regional integration and attain energy sufficiency.

ENTRY ELIGIBILITY

Entries must be from reputable media houses and must have been published or broadcast between 1st January and 30th September 2026.

Entries should reflect developments, innovations, achievements, and contributions across the electricity sub-sector, encompassing the full value chain including power generation, transmission, distribution, wheeling, power trading, renewable energy, energy storage, grid infrastructure, and related support services.

Submissions should demonstrate contributions to energy security, innovation, sustainability, regional power integration, industrial development, economic growth, investment mobilisation, community impact and the advancement of the energy transition.

CATEGORIES

1. Best Print Coverage
   Recognises outstanding newspaper or magazine reporting that presents sector related stories with accuracy, depth and clarity. This award celebrates print journalists who consistently deliver well-researched, balanced and impactful coverage.
2. Best Television Coverage
   Recognises excellence in broadcast storytelling through compelling, informative and professionally produced television reports. This award honours coverage that effectively communicates the nuances of the electricity sector, developments, projects, events, or community impact that is clear and engaging to viewers.
3. Best Radio Coverage
   Recognises strong radio reporting that communicates sector-related news in a clear, timely and accessible manner. This award celebrates radio journalists who effectively utilise sound, interviews and narration effectively to inform diverse audiences.
4. Best Online Coverage
   Recognises high-quality digital articles published on websites, news platforms or online publications. This award honours accurate, timely and well-packaged online stories that enhance public understanding of the electricity sub-sector.
5. Best Social Media Influencer
   Recognises an influencer who uses social media platforms responsibly and creatively to share accurate sector information. This award celebrates engaging, credible and impactful content that drives awareness, constructive dialogue, and positive public engagement.
6. Best Opinion Editorial
   Recognises a well-argued opinion piece that provides thoughtful analysis on the sector or related economic issues. This award honours writers who demonstrate insight, balance, originality and a strong understanding of the sector.
7. Best Financial Results Coverage
   Recognises excellence in reporting on CEC’s financial performance, results announcements and investor-related developments. This award honours journalists who communicate complex financial information in a clear, accurate and balanced manner, helping stakeholders make informed decisions.
8. Most Consistent Journalist
   Recognises a journalist who has demonstrated sustained interest and reliability in covering CEC-related stories throughout the year. This award honours consistency, accuracy, professionalism and continued engagement across general news and corporate coverage.
