The 2026 CEC Media Awards recognise innovative, responsible and in-depth journalism that highlights milestones in the electricity sub-sector, regional power integration and efforts to achieve energy sufficiency.

The awards are aimed at enhancing reporting on the electricity sub-sector in Zambia, while promoting informed public dialogue on energy security, innovation, investment and the country’s energy transition.

Submission Requirements

Each entry must clearly state:

• Entrant’s full name
• Media organisation represented
• Award category entered
• Entrants must also submit a recent, high-resolution photograph of themselves in smart attire.

Submissions should demonstrate journalistic contributions to one or more of the following areas:

• Energy security
• Innovation and sustainability
• Regional power integration
• Industrial development and economic growth
• Investment mobilisation
• Community impact
• Advancement of the energy transition

Award Categories

Entries may only be submitted under the following advertised categories:

1. Best Print Coverage
2. Best Television Coverage
3. Best Radio Coverage
4. Best Online Coverage
5. Best Social Media Influencer
6. Best Opinion Editorial
7. Best Financial Results Coverage

Eligibility

• The awards are open to individual journalists only, not media institutions or organisations.
• All submissions must be published or broadcast works.
• Eligible entries must have been published or broadcast between 1 January 2026 and 10 October 2026.
• Entries must have been published or broadcast by a recognised media institution, except for submissions under the Best Social Media Influencer category.
• All entries must be in any of the official Southern African Development Community (SADC) languages which include English, French or Portuguese.
