Power Dynamos have secured a historic qualification to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League group stage, marking a major milestone for Zambian football.

The ‘Aba Yellow’ boys managed a 3-2 aggregate win over Vipers SC of Uganda, following a 1-all draw in the second leg of the second preliminary round match at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

During the game, Power had a goal disallowed in the 14th minute when Frederick Mulambia was judged to have handled the ball before scoring.

After a scoreless first half, Power took the lead in the 69th minute through Moses Shumah. Ten minutes later, Vipers SC managed to level matters through Karim Watambala.

The game ended 1-all, with tense goal-mouth action in the last 10 minutes.

“Guys, well done,” said Copperbelt Energy Corporation PLC (CEC) Board Chairperson, Mr. London Mwafulilwa, as he addressed the players yesterday in the dressing room after the game against Vipers SC at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Mr. Mwafulilwa, who was visibly elated by the result, urged the team to continue delivering positive results.

And Power Dynamos Patron, Eng. Owen Silavwe, also congratulated the players and said the qualification demonstrates that it is possible for the team to go even further in the League, highlighting that the grit and determination of both the players and the technical bench had improved a great deal.

He urged the players to continue working extremely hard.
